Every Man Should Own A Pair Of 20-Pound Dumbbells
I truly believe every man should AT LEAST own one pair of dumbbells in their lifetime.
But WHY 20 lbs?.....Because 20 is the magic number DUDE!
For any man trying to gain weight, start a routine, or simply maintain muscle mass; 20 lbs + work = results.
What makes the functionality of 20 lbs so great?
Because they aren’t too heavy and they aren’t too light.
For beginners, 20’s could be the first step into some real weightlifting. It’s a great weight for beginners because 20 lbs won't be too hard on the wrists/shoulders compared to 25's or 30’s. With 20’s you can still get a great pump, whereas with 15’s one might leave the gym feeling a bit short of a great workout.
For the more advanced, 20 lb dumbbells are still amazing! I use 20 pounds all the time for an explosive pump. Double up on the reps, isolate the muscle & pump it out!
20 lbs dumbbells are super versatile
We can’t always make it to the gym, shit happens. We get caught up with work, it rains, or we have to take care of our families. But if we keep a pair around the house there is no excuse to get a quick workout in. Keeping a pair weights around also gives us a peace of mind, and ensures us that exercise is important in our daily lives.
If you're single, even more of a reason!
Woman love that kind of stuff. It lets them know that you care about your health and body.
Leave them in the corner of your room the next time you have a hot date over, she'll notice. :)
MY STORY
Every day after my 10 am class freshman year of college I would train with my brother Playboy in his small apartment.
Being kids we didn’t have much. All we had was P90X & 2 pairs of 20lb dumbbells.
That semester Playboy and I GAINED!
We got in the best shape of our lives at the time.
We did it all! Rows, pushups, squats, bench, even YOGA!……all with 20lbs dumbbells.
This was my first weightlifting routine. With Tommy Thorton's guidance and our 20-pound weights, I grew a real biomechanics foundation.
I gained stability, coordination, and my next level of strength training.
WE HIT IT HARD, AND WE GOT IT!
After 2 & ½ months of training (no one ever completes all 3 months) it was time to pick up some new weights as I eventually grew into a more advanced routine.
To this day I still do the same routine I did back then, with 20’s.
Aaayyeee Yo! This ain’t just for decoration!
You will never regret owning a pair of dumbbells…plus they’re super cheap!
Garage sales, Amazon, craigslist……shoot! Half the weights I own were given to me for free.
A pair dumbbells will last you a lifetime.
Pushups, curls, squats, rows ….anything can be done with 20-pound dumbbells. When I first began lifting I grew into this awkward stage where I couldn’t even bench a barbell, but 15 lb dumbbells were way too easy to press.
